By the 1980s most of the flights were already L1011-500 (AC) or the 747 from BA and AC. There may have been a special reason that you refuelled that day.
Interesting, I don't actually know what aircraft it was, I was just a child but I do remember the stop. I was under the impression it was normal procedure for that flight but perhaps that is not the case.
