By the 1980s most of the flights were already L1011-500 (AC) or the 747 from BA and AC. There may have been a special reason that you refuelled that day.

The North Star would almost certainly have flown to SNN and from thence to Newfoundland (I think). By the sixties, most of the European flights were operated by Caravelle - Lufthansa still used the Viscount until the 727s arrived, and KLM used the Lockheed Electra. Aer Lingus used the Viscount as did BEA along with the Vanguard and the Trident.

Yes - I too landed on runway three heading South East - and once and once only I saw a BA Tristar land on that runway in the early 80s heading Northwest.
