I'm not sure if you check in with kiosk then go to machine for bag drop or if you just go to the machine and it does check in and bag drop stuff all in one. I was going to suggest they get something like QFs set up. Quick and easy - only line left is security etc! I've always seen too many people in the general line so haven't gone there but will try and make an effort next time.
Do you mean the automated bag drops? You still need to goto the kiosk first to check-in and get bag tags. You then walk up to the bag drop scan your boarding pass, and the machine will take an photo of your (Like SmartGate) to confirm your identity. All it goes is remove the need for an staff member to check your ID before you drop the bag. Basically its the same as Melbourne, just without someone physically checking your passport before you can't drop your bags.
What they really need to work on is getting Electronic boarding passes approved for departures ex-Australia.
