I thought so too when I inquired. But since the the first foray into TPE is a transit thru to PVG, still makes it invalid was/is my worry as well.
YYZ>TPE(transit)>PVG (72h)>TPE(10 days)>YYZ was original plan. Based on your comments, I will change my plans it to:
YYZ>TPE(10 days)>PVG (72h)>TPE(transit)>YYZ (still invalid? unless I get rid of the second TPE or get a VISA)
