Yes, it is Golden Week right now (4/29 - 5/5). Also, there has been more Chinese tourists flooding Tokyo this year according to my friends who have businesses in Ueno and Ginza. Both make for a busier Tokyo.
I definitely observed the majority of the breakfast crowd to be Chinese.
Golden week is a peak time for travel, but I assumed mostly outside Tokyo.
Moving to the Andaz tomorrow, will see how it compares crowd wise.
