First thing, tell us what is your departing carrier? The airport has 4 detached terminal buildings, and you can only access the terminal you are flying out of.

Many people choose to legally enter the UK and leave the airport for a short time, but just as many prefer to stay in transit airside (for example, those lacling the ability to enter the UK).
