I'm just surprised that it would even be suggested to NOT appear as am American. It just strikes a chord...hard to describe. We (my husband and I) are VERY polite, very respectful and wouldn't think of acting in the manner in which you described.

When someone is here from another country...and they begin to speak in an english accent or irish, we light up like christmas trees and just love it. We have no preconceived position on attitude. We are just so interested in what they have to say and what we can do for them! That's just me though....and I'm sure you know more about this than I do, so I will just make sure to mind our manners as not to perpetuate the awful tendancies that you speak about. That is the least we can do.

Thanks.
