Agree with previous poster that the Old Clare is not really in a particularly good location. I am curious to see FT reports on how it is as a hotel, but for a Platinum it really doesn't make sense to pass up the elite benefits at the Westin.

Plus, the Westin location really isn't that bad. It's in more of a business district to be sure, but there is also a fair amount of appealing nightlife and restaurants scattered throughout the CBD, and from either hotel you'd spend some time on foot/train/bus/ferry/taxi to get around to the major tourist sites and interesting neighborhoods you'll want to visit anyway.
