Actually, I have to agree with OP.
At some airports its:
Hertz: "Do you want to pay us a bunch of money for no value"
Me: "No thinks, I'll refuel and bring a receipt"
Hertz: "Remember, that if it is less than 75 miles you will be charged"
Me: "Thanks"
Hertz: "Ok, wait here while I go get your contract"
So, I have to do the stupid verbal game before they will go an get me the contract (which I don't need or want) and then wait for them to raise the gate.
It should be:
Scan Car, "I see you are PC, have a great trip", gate up.
For those of us who travel a lot, a few hours each year wasted - plus the fact that they are annoying what should be their most valuable customers.
