We ordered the travelcards before out first trip, very convenient but I discovered they were a waste of money. You just aren't on the tube that much. Last visit we bought Carnets (packet of ten rides, good for a year). Even though I had some left over, which I of course sent off to another Ft-er) it was way cheaper than the travelcards.
