AMEX FHR almost always matches lowest available rate. It is fully flexibile. It comes with all of the perks listed, but you are required to have the Amex Plat to book it.
Maybe a good deal off-season or a short stay. However, I think the CAA/AAA rate will work out better in most cases, since that's a 30% discount at Banff Springs. During the summer, even the Fairmont rooms offer at around $600 BAR. The CAA rate would represent a nightly savings $180, and more on higher category rooms and suites. One dinner + daily breakfast might not be enough. Still, it's worth considering.
