TBIT is at its worst midday when the Asia flights depart and again late afternoon/evening when the Europe flights depart. Mornings are generally calm *but* sometimes there are so few TSA smurfs that the line still backs up.
I'd say that's an understatement, there are literally two morning departures, CX to Hong Kong and QF's connector tag to JFK. It is otherwise empty except for AA domestic departures until around 11ish.
