I am currently holding a 5-night reservation here with points, as well as a reservation at the Old Clare hotel (Design Hotels) for the same nights. Both are 48K points (w/ 5th night free, of course). (Side note: Sheraton is 16K / night, so I'm not factoring that one in)

Paid rates are almost the same for the two properties, but of course, at the Westin, I would be using SNAs for the 5 nights and likely getting a suite, while at the Old Clare, no such option exists (not to mention forgoing breakfast / lounge). I'd rather not split my time as I only have 5 nights, and I'd like to take advantage of the 5th night free.

I'm basically choosing between a suite in one of the best Westin hotels in the world with lounge access, and a pretty much guaranteed basic room at a trendy boutique hotel that has some great reviews online, but is fairly new / doesn't have almost any presensce here on FT.

That said, am I crazy for considering the Old Clare over a suite at the Westin? The location looks like it might be a bit more appealing to me, being younger and more interested in seeing the city rather than staying in my room, but as I haven't been to Sydney, I can't say for certain.

Any input would be appreciated.
