I see that the Central Line project has covered itself in glory again (incident on Wednesday evening):-
Central Line accident
During test running on the eastern end of the closed Central Line yesterday evening, a train struck an object on the track. The train sustained minor damage.
London Underground's initial investigations indicate that the train struck a large track trolley at 19.56 on the eastbound track between Mile End and Stratford stations.

The trolley, called an "iron horse", is used to transport heavy equipment short distances.

The trolley was stored in a track crossing passage between the eastbound and westbound tracks.

It was not left on the main eastbound track but appears to have been left too close to it.

The sides of five carriages on the train were struck glancing blows by the trolley and some debris was thrown onto the roof.

A full investigation will be carried out to establish how and when the equipment came to be too close to the track.

Minor damage was caused to the track and signal systems.

The train was taken back to Hainault depot where a thorough inspection and assessment of the damage is being carried out.
