Firstly, thank you henky. This has helped me immensely. Now got CDG-DFW,AUS-LHR(-BRU) for about £1200, booked with AUS-LHR being on the BA 789 and MFUed.

Now looking at trip 2, for new year which will start CDG-JFK-LAX-HNL (for TPs, I have little interest in Hawaii).

I'm still struggling with the return though. I'm looking at detouring via ASE so I can have a bit of skiing... I can get HNL-LAX-ASE, then DFW/JFK-CDG, but I can't work out how to complete the loop. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very grateful, otherwise I need to book a separate one-way...
