It would benefit me if MQDs were used instead of fare class. As a hub captive, I'm accustomed to paying high fares. Yet I often have surprisingly low fare classes for these prices. In fact, I think this has gotten worse recently.
For example, my most recent RT coach ticket (for nonstops on a not particularly long route and not a business or elite heavy route) cost almost six hundred dollars for an L segment in each direction. [The FCM fare difference would have been a bit over two hundred dollars, but I decided to roll the dice on this one and I was upgraded into very good FC seats at mmy DM window in both directions.]
