So they probably didn't have the opportunity to proactively select seats in row 1 or 2.
The OP wasn't upgraded. Sounds like they originally booked the bulkhead in Y (row 4) in an old LUS config. That was changed the day before to a new config so they were moved to the bulkhead row 3 (good move). That was switched back to an old config on the day of departure where row 3 is in F, so the OP got screwed and sat in row 27.
