I think it's crazy too but that's what happened with me. I flew economy but am Flying Blue Plat so I had the priority tags on the luggage. I did have a 10 hour connection in CDG so maybe if it were shorter it would have made through? No idea. Either way, once in CDG, definitely go to the transit counter of Air France to ensure they received your luggage from Air Canada.
