I wouldn't worry about using the same password across all Google properties...I suspect their security and practices are pretty good.

Thanks for the reminder. I had been using 2-step verification on my Google account for a long time. However, I turned it off during a month-long trip to Europe last year. I turned the 2-step verification off because I didn't have my phone with me. Then I just kind of forgot about it. It's still turned off as of this morning. After reading your reply, it went up like a lightbulb in my head and I immediately turned 2-step verification back on again.
