When I used to keep stuff stored on Dropbox, my friends and family always told me that they couldn't download faster than 8 to 10mbps. After I switched to Google Drive, they were always able to download at least 25mbps.(although that's probably because they live close to a Google server?)
Complex password is good. Also make sure you enable two step authentication. And don't lose the backup codes! Print them out and file them away somewhere.
I wouldn't worry about using the same password across all Google properties...I suspect their security and practices are pretty good.
