KUL-SIN & SIN-PVG will be on same day and few hours apart. Wondering if MH will do a through check-in to PVG. Is that possible?

I see that some MH code flights between KUL-SIN are in SQ Metal. I can try booking one of those too. Will SQ do a through check-in for KUL-SIN-PVG? But, I won't get any AA credit for KUL-SIN flight I guess.
Please read the last 4 posts.

MH will NOT thru check your bags if you are on separate tickets.

Why don't you just buy a oneway between SIN and KUL? It is such a short flight, and with such a range of carriers, you can get a fare as low as US$55 on Jetstar.

Then buy SQ from KUL-x/SIN-PVG-SIN-KUL with 'stopover' in SIN on the way back and use the SIN-KUL for future flights .. SQ has cheaper fares from Malaysia (full miles too). It will certainly be cheaper than for you to buy SIN-KUL-SIN and SIN-PVG-SIN.

Case in point SQ : SIN-PVG-SIN cheapest fare with miles is US$ 896
KUL-x/SIN-PVG-SIN-KUL (2 month ticket) with miles is US$ 656 (KUL-SIN-KUL can be MI or SQ)
