Since the St. Francis is only a couple of blocks from the theater district and in Union Square, you will find a number of interesting places within walking distance. One of my favorites (& still a great secret) is Jeanne D'Arc, located in the basement of the Cornell Hotel (715 Bush)... fixed price menu ($28) with a great selection of main courses and a chateau-like setting. Most of the restaurants at the wharf are not that great... the ones that are good are also very expensive. Another great restaurant not frequented by tourists is The Meetinghouse on Octavia & Bush (a quick cab ride from the hotel)... website is
http://www.themeetinghouse.com. Chinatown really does not have any outstanding restaurants... the better Asian food is dispersed throughout the City.
