You can escalate it, but won't get it back. I had a similar issue on a 77W JFK-LHR, I upgraded to business, only to have the one seat with broken ife, and would not lay flat completely. I received similar miles on my first response, but I wanted the SWU credited back as I found seats not acceptable. In the end, I received 20k miles extra. Good luck.
