While this is a different airport, I wanted to interline from DL to AirAsia in SIN a few months ago, and was repeatedly told it wasn't possible. I was spending the night in the terminal hotel, which means you cannot leave the secure area to get your bags. I even asked at check-in and was told no, so it was a good thing I had what could be carry-on. It turned out the DL flight was the last in at that gate for the night and the first out in the morning. My AirAsia flight was the next flight out of the exact same gate! So for those that are thinking the terminal may make a difference, IME even the next flight at the exact same gate doesn't make a difference if it is not a ST partner!
As a LCC, AirAsia would be unlikely to interline with anyone.

Also, for a bag to make a connection (you would had a separate ticket for AirAsia, so it's not a connection in this case), it's first taken off the plane and to some central sorting facility. They wouldn't leave it at the gate, nor would a bag normally be carried directly to the next gate, no matter how close. Very tiny airports or special circumstances with truly VIP HVCs might be exceptions.
