You only lose the 15% discount if you are able to complete the process and choose to call an agent instead.
However if you are having a technical problem while trying to upgrade the ticket and cannot do so online, just state this to the call center agent and they will apply the 15% discount.

JohnSIN. The way it was described to me by the two agents was that a travel agent booking is ineligible for the 15% online discount which is different from what you're saying above.
So assuming that the Saver was available in the first place, the two agents would expect me to not be able to benefit from the 15% online discount by doing the upgrade online.

They have now opened up a O Class seat for me (very quickly) so I am awaiting a call to re-ticket and confirm the booking. However, I only have enough miles with the 15% discount so that will be an interesting conversation...
