Indeed, my understanding is that the VZW (or any carrier) CDMA non-LTE phones did not have SIM cards at all.
Any current LTE-enabled phone, regardless of carrier, should have a removable SIM card. They will likely be "hidden" and accessible only with a special needle-/pin-like tool. Look for a discreet pinhole and "panel" on the side of your phone. That will be where the SIM card goes.
Google "<phone name> SIM card slot" and you'll find plenty of images online.
