I agree that the pre-bidding information can be misleading. How do I know this? Every time I've had to re-try a rejected hotel bid on priceline, the "average retail price for a 4-star hotel room in XYZ City" has been different the second time around. (And when I've had to make a third attempt that price has always been different from either of the first two.) Sorry, folks, but I don't know of any lodging markets that are so volatile that the price of a 4-star hotel room goes from $174 to $93 in 10 minutes.
