Is there an EI option from BHX? I think they all use T2 now (regional used to go to T1) so you might get through the transfer channel at T2.
And with two tickets on EI, if they retime one, you're more likely to get a positive reaction.
For BHX-DUB, there's four EI flights to match the four Ryanair flights, and from BHX the EI departures are all within half an hour (ok, 35 mins) of the Ryanair flights.
Booking this hop with EI seems a sensible enough precaution.
