Also, I flew FRA-YYC-YVR after March 30 and still had to pick up and transfer my bags in YYC. So was the new system not operational yet? The lounge agent in FRA was talking about the new process, but that shed no light on this either.
If customs wants to see the bags, they can have the bags recalled and sent up. Same system that US CBP uses for connections at YYZ (and will eventually apply to all US departures from YYZ when the new security hall opens up). I don't think YYC has this process yet, but should with the new terminal.
