It's been 5 years since I started this thread and there's been almost zero improvement in the Choice USA breakfasts (except reports of some hard-boiled eggs). I was thinking about it this morning when the "hot breakfast" at a North Carolina Quality Inn consisted of "biscuits and gravy" -- perhaps the cheapest and least appetizing hot breakfast a motel can serve. I have seen improvements in some of the other chains. Hampton Inns (admittedly a higher price point than most Choice hotels) has become pretty innovative and varied in their breakfast offerings (kielbasa anyone?). I know that Choice does not seem like a particularly innovative hotel management company, but I have to believe they're degrading their brands and pushing customers away by not keeping up with more modern, sophisticated tastes. At breakfast time, it really feels like their target audience is a small-town moderate income adult who doesn't give a fig about what they eat.
