If you are a really smart shopper you might look into buying a car for export. The Canadian prices were set when the currencies were at par and some have not fully adjusted. You can buy a car for export to the US and pay no Canadian taxes, just the taxes where you register. I've heard that high value and hybrid used cars in Canada are being grabbed up by US dealers. I won't mention real estate.
