Yes agree it's situational. Generally don't make sense for higher category redemption. I'm indeed looking at DT KL that it'll be much cheaper to buy points this time since I need to book it. Have never purchased their points before. Are you familiar with buying their points? Is it classified as online purchase please?
I just realized that the points are sold by points.com, not hotel itself? Based on the crowdsourcing sheet, it's indicated as Yes under DBS. Hmmm, now this looks good for the stacking.
