The same would be true even if all flights only used T5.

Am I being irresponsible when I check my bags at 0600 and then go to central London for the day before returning to LHR for my 1800 flight? What happens if I get hit by a bus?

Are bags only loaded when the passenger passes into the airside area / enters flight connections?
