Why not just buy some credit on Skype or a similar VOIP app. like Rebtel to make calls from abroad?

I rarely call back home but once I had to call a business so I just made an in-app purchase in Skype and called.

Otherwise, FaceTime, Skype, etc. to call someone who has those apps. or is reachable by computer.
