FWIW, when I'm buying new shoes, I may well solicit an opinion from others, but if the "other" opinion is actually from the commissioned shoe salesperson rather than from a supposed friend, wife, girlfriend, casual acquaintance or even a total stranger, I'd surely wanna know!
