It should be noted, the passengers are disputing Air Canada's claim that the delay is weather related. Yet, many people here chose to ignore that part completely, so I have to ask, why?
When I hear two different versions of the same story, an alarm goes off. Airlines do have a tendency to blame every and all delays on weather even when it's sunny outside. I have seen it.
Here is a weather report for NRT on April 17:
https://www.wunderground.com/history...eqdb.wmo=47686
At the time of AC flight around 5PM, the conditions in NRT was:
5:00 PM 22.0 °C 17.0 °C 73% 1002 hPa 10.0 km SW 37.0 km/h / 10.3 m/s 59.3 km/h / 16.5 m/s N/A Scattered Clouds
A little windy, but certainly not raining and the temperature was normal for this time period of the year.
I failed to find evidence to support AC's weather related claim. This may very well turn out to be yet another just blame-it-on-weather excuse. If so, punitive damage may even be warranted, I say the couple should sue Air Canada.
