No problem at all charging my Nexus 6P with a USB to USB C cable. I have continual problems using an adapter but that's by virtue of the outlet. I have to gently squeeze the 2 prongs together to get a better fit.

It will be awhile but eventually all the USB outlets currently on planes will be obsolete in favor of teh USB C standard.
