If you are able to get a charge by holding the plug to the outlet, I would say that the issue is how your plug is sitting in the outlet. I find that many times my charger does not sit in the outlet well, it kind of hangs/leans down. Its as if the holes in the outlet are oversized. By holding the charger into the outlet, it begins to charge. Poor design of the outlet, but not a function of a Type-C charger. This happens to me on a non-Type-C android charger.
I thought about that possibility also.
However, in the USB port (where there is no use of a charging adapter) the cable will not bring any charge to the phone.
It is both the plug in adapter (AC outlet) and/or the cord (plugged into the USB port) that do not function correctly.
I have no clue why the phone will charge when my hand is wrapped around the end of the cord that fits in the AC port. I stumbled on that temporary charge method. When the phone charges that way, it is only for a few minutes then stops again.
I will try out the newly purchased, different manufacturer connectors today if my flight goes.
