With BA issued tickets, AA domestic first book into business class, not first class. LAX-HNL (over 2000 miles) booked with a BA prefix will earn 140 TPs if flying a 2-cabin plane. The same seat (assuming it's not a 3-class plane) with an AA flight number will book into P, A or F, which are first class fares and so will earn 210 TPs. Booking over the phone with BA you can ask for AA domestics to have AA flight numbers, which allows you to collect the higher tier points on a BA-issued ticket.
