In most cases (all in my case), the bank will promptly issue you a temporary credit while they complete their investigation. In my opinion, an ATM-only card is not any safer than a debit card. As I said before, such ATM card can also be cloned and its PIN captured possibly draining your checking account and leaving you in the same situation than a debit card.

Some banks are just not set up to allow or accommodate personalized daily limit requests. Some do and some don't. I suspect you can't do it with Fido.
