As others have mentioned, ask the travel coordinator and, especially if there's an LDW involved, get permission it in writing. My last employer actually encouraged me to keep using the code as it inflated their bookings and helped with annual corp discount renegotiation (though I don't use it because it's rarely the best option I have at my disposal).

Also, ask if they have a separate "friends and family" rate. The rate code I use most frequently is one of these provided to me by a friend that works at Fortune 100 company, and is the same base rate as their "official business" rate code, just without the LDW.
