We have tended to night-stop in DUB [remember it takes us the best part of day to get there with BA from JER, via LGW, M25 and LHR]. And for an early-ish morning departure, we have found ourselves gong through empty pre-clearance halls!

A variety of reasons, of variable validity!
1. An unreasonable dislike of back-tracking the route.
2. Preferring AA to BA for the TATL.
3. Pre-clearance, as mentioned.
4. More TPs doing [say] DUB-PHL-LAX (140+210) than DUB-LHR-LAX (80+160) thanks to the 2,000+ Domestic First transcon. [All purchased as Business tickets].
5. As noted above, the PITA/Cost of getting to DUB on BA in the first place!
