OTA booked me on a throw-away ticket!
I was looking for a one way ticket ex-LHR to North America. Found a significantly cheaper price on an OTA through a consolidator (kayak/goggle flights/hipmunk, can't remember which). On the OTA website I bought the ONE-WAY ticket and got a confirmation e-mail.
I called the OTA a couple of days later to get the airline record locator for seat selection. When I was on the airline website I realized they had booked me on a RETURN trip!!! My original one way was the outbound segment and a completely random date was my inbound segment.
Can OTAs do this legally without consent??? I’m a bit afraid of consequences with throw-away ticketing. Looking to cancel the ticket because I’ve just found award space for my flight but not sure it will go through with the OTA.
Any suggestions?
