I would be irate, what is the point of having rate that is specifically called Diamond Guarantee if you get kicked out of it.
I am using one of these for the first time for a late Oct stay in Aracadia/Monrovia for Breeders Cup and I keep checking my reservation ever so often to make sure there aren't any shennigans because a while back when I was Gold this particular hotel decided to pull that sort of thing on a regular AAA rate.
They claim they had no choice but to cancel this "guaranteed" reservation and offered a poor alternative property outside the Hilton chain.
Diamond desk says they cannot force a property to honor the "guarantee" and the only location they could offer was 25 miles away.
This was my first experience using the Diamond force- and now my lesson has been learned-"guaranteed" has a different meaning to Hilton.
In the future, I will always book a backup to a Diamond Guarantee reservation
