You may want to check out
which shows the difference between The Netherlands, Holland and a couple old things. Basically, the very complicated ways things are between The Netherlands and Curacao is due to empire.

And for those who care to know a tiny little bit about currency pegging; the currency is pegged against the USD instead of EUR because of trade. They do more trade in USD and therefore it's beneficial to have a stable currency rate, without the need to completely change the currency to USD (so they have an option to make adjustments later).
