The other side effect you will notice is that if you log in to the Virgin Website it suddenly won't be able to find any of your future flights because it looks for flights that have your current membership number (the 008 one) attached to them and will fail to automatically locate any that have the old (007) number.

All the flights are still there you just have to use your booking reference to pull them up.

Yes it's daft, but it's just the way Virgin IT works.
