I saw a U-mobile sim at Yodobashi, which is the same deal as the Japan Rail card. 200 mb/day for 15 days for 3,210 yen so about 1,300 yen cheaper at current rates.

Freetel sim also comes with free data for apps such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Line etc. But haven't used it so point about poor reviews is well-taken.
