What are the chances of getting a free upgrade to their 1br suite? I am IHG Platinum and eligible for a free room upgrade on a standard room but not sure about a suite. I realize if it happens to be full I would not get one but if not, should I ask when we check in or just hope we get upgraded? It would be nice to have the suite with a full kitchen and laundry especially having a teenager with us.

I was given a 1 Bedroom King Suite - View today on reward nights (a few hours before I arrived at 4 pm, I noticed I had been upgraded on my reservation on the IHG app). They are totally sold out for a week so I am happy I didn't end up in a studio suite. Glad to see two of my favorites, Alan & Shona, are still manning the front desk. They're great!
