I would normally be surprised by this but in recent months BHD has just got busier and and busier. It's crazy how many status passengers use this route.
I thought with the introduction of Ryanair to LGW along with multiple easyjet and Aer Lingus routes to London, along with the BMI status match ease off, that the lounge would calm, but on Tuesday last week, prior to the 7amish departure, I counted 81 passengers in the lounge on a A319 flight - imagine a Monday morning.
And it's a small lounge.
That would explain why they might restrict access at busy times. I still don't see why they would close the lounge completely at other times when it is not so busy, as surely all this does is annoy BA Exec Club card holders.
It seems very odd that they are now restricting the stay in the lounge to a maximum of 1.5 hours (as the flights normally board 30 mins before departure time) when third party lounges usually allow stays of up to 3 hours.
I'm sure this enhancement will be well received if they decide to roll it out at LHR.
