You may be correct. Maybe the terms are different for current employees.
The rules for my dad state :
"Who can I nominate for staff travel?
You may nominate 1 person plus your children under the age of 24 years. The person can be anyone of your choice i.e. family or friend. If you are married or have a partner you do not have to nominate your spouse. Please note that if the person you nominate is described as a travel companion i.e. a grandchild or a friend, you would need to travel with that person at all times. You may change your nominee on a rolling 6 month basis providing they have been nominated for a minimum of 6 months"
Sorry to derail the thread slightly, it just so happened I booked a hotline ticket yesterday because I can't travel alone and to see that it is possible for some had me slightly confused. All that entitlement going to waste as he doesn't like flying!
